Promoting Local Solutions to the Global Biodiversity Framework Target 3 – Exploring the impact of BIOPAMA funding on data collection, resilience and biodiversity conservation

The proposed side event utilised presentations, panels, and conversations to showcase the Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management (BIOPAMA) Programme’s achievements and demonstrate how local actions and partnerships are enhancing SIDS’ economic diversification, building resilience and disaster recovery, and propelling sustainable development. It also explored the strategies and actions used to bridge data gaps and enhance technological and institutional capacities to empower evidence-based policymaking. Interventions were made by the Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), European Union (EU), International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), European Commissions Joint Research Centre (EU JRC), Pacific Ministers, local BIOPAMA Grantees, as well as our very own Tenika Griffith, GIS Specialist at the Caribbean Protected Areas Gateway (CPAG).
